DailyBreath App: Assisting Those With Asthma

The DailyBreath mobile app helps those with asthma pinpoint the when, where, and what of THEIR asthma.  DailyBreath facilitate not only personal allergy and asthma learning, but is also a warning service for allergy and asthma sufferers based on their real-world experience of environmental triggers during daily life.  DailyBreath is a digital companion for asthma management and control focusing on improving allergen and irritant education, increasing awareness, supporting reduction, and promoting avoidance. The DailyBreath mobile app ensures you are weather informed, location aware, and health prepared.

DailyBreath App: Benefits

The DailyBreath app benefits anyone with allergies, allergic asthma, or non-allergic asthma because it tracks and maps user-reported symptoms in real-time. This helps users know how to stay healthy in their community, state, and or around the country. Early adopters of the DailyBreath app have benefitted by tracking symptoms and viewing a community view of where environmental conditions are impacting their symptoms. They validated that the community view of respiratory symptoms recording the where, when, and in what conditions they experience symptoms helped to better inform their asthma trigger risk management. Opting in to provide health information that, when combined with environmental data, helps you and your healthcare providers better manage their health.

Two unique features to note in the app include:

  • We support schools, parents, and children across the US by including an Air Quality Flag for your zip code so that you know if risk air quality conditions are present at your local school.

  • In light of COVID, and because many allergy symptoms may be confused with COVID, when recording symptoms (Record Flare), if a symptom has been associated with COVID, the user receives a prompt indicating so and referring them to their provider for guidance, a COVID triage if you will.

DailyBreath Mobile App: Benefits

  • Manage asthma trigger risk with your personalized risk index. The DailyBreath mobile app translates weather, pollution, and pollen convergence associated with a user’s recorded symptoms into a personalized index of the relative risk of experiencing symptoms.

  • Develop a trigger management plan: Know about the weather, pollution, and pollen conditions that affect you and why they may impact your asthma, and learn what steps you can take to reduce or avoid asthma attacks.

  • Save time tracking asthma symptoms: Recording your flare-ups help you learn the when, where, and what of your daily experience of asthma. The symptom tracking history created translates into an asthma forecast.

DailyBreath Mobile App: Additional Benefits

  • Flagging symptoms that may be related to COVID to inform you so that you may contact your provider for further guidance if you feel it is warranted.

  • Identifies locations where you are experiencing asthma symptoms to help you be prepared when you return to that location frequently.

  • Identifies where in the community fellow DailyBreath users are experiencing symptoms due to allergen or irritant exposures. This is another form of risk information and it also identifies where, in your community, specific types of exposures, i.e. traffic pollution, have greater impacts on those with asthma.

  • Share your asthma journey with your own Personal Caregiver Network (Friends List) and fellow members of the DailyBreath Community (via the Discussion Board).

  • Learn about self-care, symptoms, triggers, and asthma management via short educational videos.
